When Gustav Vasa became King of Sweden, cultural life was flourishing in Southern Europe. Music, lyrics, art, poetry and literature were being produced at a tremendous rate. The Renaissance was in full bloom.

Returning home after many years on the road, a touring musical ensemble brings these cultural treasures to Sweden.

During a royal banquet at Gripsholm Castle, they perform the latest songs by the biggest names of the time, including Josquin des Prez, Clément Janequin, Bartolomeo Tromboncino and Juan del Encina. There will also be readings from Petrarch and tales from Boccaccio and Ovid, as heard in the streets, the squares and the palaces of Milan, Avignon and Granada.

The Renaissance comes direct to Gripsholm!

The sumptuous Renaissance costumes add to the sense of celebration and colour that has become the choir's trademark.
